Cloth Diapering? Quite possibly

I am truly thinking about switching to cloth diapers. Everything that I have heard and been told makes it seem pretty easy. The whole getting started is what is a little intimidating to me. I know it's going to take a bit to build up a stash of cloth diapers, but I want to be prepared. And dang it, disposables are ridiculously expensive! We are looking ahead at hopefully having #2 and of course any extra money we can save would be a huge help right now. And obviously, cloth is much better for our wonderful environment. If I can just get my hubby on board :) I actually already mentioned cloth diapering to our sitter and they seem to be okay if that's what we choose to do. They just want to make sure they know what to do. Well, all but one is apparently okay with it. There are three different sitters at A's daycare throughout the day, so the one that isn't okay with it doesn't really matter much :) So, apparently all I need to do is start stocking up on everything and get the ball rolling! I'm a little nervous, but I guess I need to just jump into it. Wish us luck! By the way, sorry it's been a while since I posted, life has been kind of crazy lately. And my little man takes up my evenings with his cuteness :) And...A's molars have broken through on the bottom and he is getting a couple other teeth now too! We have been a bit fussy with the teeth. And...A got tubes put in his ears in March. He was having ear infection after ear infection and double ear infections. So, we finally got him to an ENT specialist and had tubes put in on the 14th of March and we haven't had any issues since! His ears are healing up nicely and all seems to be well with that now! Yay! Lastly, I may begin teaching colorguard again this summer, which makes me extremely happy :) and will help with the finances lol. We will see...the guard that I used to direct is in dire need of assistance since someone else took over and the band director would really like to have me come back in to hopefully get them straightened out before it's too late. If I could go back and be the full-time director again, I would, but that would mean sacrificing the precious little time I have with A and I am not willing to do that. Until next time....hopefully with some good news!

I think you're very brave. lol If you do cloth diapers, do you just wash them at home yourself, or are you going to do the cleaning service? My biggest thing would be washing poopy diapers in my washer. I'm weird like that.

BB got tubes put in last year for continual ear infections too. I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but I was so glad once it was done and she didn't get any more ear infections. Not only that, but it was so nice when we would fly and didn't need to worry about getting her to pop her ears.

Good luck with the diapering. I hope it works out well for you guys. :)

Chelle - We will definitely wash them ourselves :) I don't think we have a cleaning service in our area anymore for cloth diapers. I'm really excited. I am ready to get started with it! And the really good thing is his daycare is onboard!

Things have been so much better since he got the tubes. It has been wonderful. I was skeptical at first, but now, I see that it was necessary. He has started talking (jabbering) much more, so I know it was starting to affect his hearing.

I have a friend w/ 4 kids and she uses cloth diapers and she saves a ton of money. I'm pretty sure I'll do the same when I have children. I might use regular diapers when I go out, but at home and things like that, cloth is way to go I think. :)
